   About Roosevelt_Treasurechest

Coming from the Southside of Chicago(Hyde Park), with a brief stop in Southern Indiana, Treasurechest(Alexander Fruchter) has been making moves on the mixtape and party scene for over two years.

His mixtape series, "A Poor Craftsman Always Blames His Tools," is currently in its third installment. The mixtape is not just a collection of songs but a theory and belief system of self-respect and responsibility. The collection boasts original blends, classic Hip Hop tracks, as well as hard to find songs, plus appearances from homies such as Little Brother, Dilated Peoples, Wordsworth, Saigon, Talib Kweli, Beastie Boys, and more.

As a college student, Treasurechest linked up with like-minded deejay, Da Metrognome. After graduating from Indiana University with degrees in sociology and psychology, Treasurechest returned to the Southisde of Chicago where he assumed a job teaching elementary school. Based on those experiences Treasurechest created, "If I Could See Me Again," a mixtape which featured remixes and unreleased tracks alongside the top hits and club bangers. Along with the drops that have become a staple of Treasurechest's arsenal( East Side Boyz, Big Noyd, Wyclef Jean, Chali 2na, Kut Masta Kurt), "If I Could See Me Again" also featured an exclusive freestyle from Chicago legend Juice, who also stopped into Treasurechest's classroom for a guest lesson.

Treasurechest has big plans for 2005-2006. Along with fighting to close the education gap and working to provide his students with a quality education, Treasurechest can be seen deejaying at Trevia on Friday nights. He has also served as the tour deejay for Shamako Noble and performed with the group Stony Island and works with the Universtiy of Hip Hop. Look for the latest installment of "A.P.C.A.B.H.T." as well as the new mixtape, "Roosevelt Treasurehcest: Where Would Hip Hop Be Without The R?"
